Our new longevity requires new thinking and new action. It requires all of us to clear out those pictures we have in our minds that we will get old and frail and that we will not be able to function without help.
Research studies are proving that what we do in the first 3 phases of life (youth, young adult and mid-life) directly effects the quality of life we will have in the mature wisdom years. Check out this organization in Singapore, The Council For The Third Age, who believes that we can stay in the third age of life and never reach that age that used to be called "old age".
Our daily practices are important. A daily practice of learning that is engaging the brain so it makes new telemares, a daily practice of physical activity and exercise and a daily practice of connecting to your heart spirit is showing that those who do this age well. More and more we are finding those centenarians that are bright and articulate are the ones that have found purpose in life at every age. For them work is NOT a 4 letter word. They are engaging in work that is meaningful. They are not letting the number associated with their "age" stop them from living. Frailty is not inevitable. Take action today to insure that is so.
